Versatile, comfortable, and breathable, cotton is a go-to natural fabric – and for good reason. Your cotton garments are sure to be long-lasting favourites, so long as they are cared for as well as they are loved. Here at Seed Heritage, we work with Australian Cotton and are a member of Better Cotton, part of our commitment to work towards a more sustainable sourcing approach across the business.
Do:
- Handwash or machine wash on a delicate cycle, in cold water
- Use colour-safe bleach, and be careful with bleach products
- Keep cotton products separate from synthetic garments when washing
- Allow items to dry flat or on the line, in shade
- Iron inside out on medium heat, or steam
- Fold or hang items in a cool, dry spot
Don't:
- Tumble dry
- Iron frequently
- Store coloured cotton items with white cotton items.
You may not need to wash your cotton pieces as much as you think – airing works very well to refresh in between washes. Remember to wash delicate cotton items in a laundry bag. Each garment’s care tag will give the best advice, so make sure you have a look at that first.
